Lately Max has taken to hanging out in the umbrella stand.
We are not certain why.
But there must be a reason because he spends a great deal of time there.
Any theories?

Umbralla stand, basket, no difference accept the color of the cat.
But this is what I do not understand. Most cats jump into things so they can curl up to take a nap. However, there is no room to curl up. He just sits there, looking at the ceiling.
Did you miss the post entitled "Serendipity?" I don't know why we even have an umbrella stand! We have never once actually used it!
cuddly and warm?

1. Cats are really, really strange.
2. The tube focuses and concentrates the signals he is receiving from his home planet.
3. He wants to make sure he goes to Europe, so he is associated himself with what he believes to be your prize possession. (Why does he believe this to be your prize possession? See #1.)
4. Containers: they're a cat thing. See http://mfrost.typepad.com/cute_overload/2006/05/cat_box.html, which is one of the most surreal things I have ever seen.
