"Conquering" the Mountain

Today we drove to Luzern in order to go to the top of Mt. Pilatus. Our original intention was to take the cog wheel train. However, that does not begin operating until May. So instead we talked my parents into Plan B -- taking the Gondola up.

And it took some talking, I can tell you!

Fortunately, they didn't realize what they were in for until it was too late...

However, we all made it to the top safe and sound. And were greeted with a view of the Alps.

At the summit, you can follow a path that goes through a cave...

Or a staircase that goes to the tippy-top...

Or even both. Regardless, the views from either are spectacular. Although you do have to wonder who is so devote to attend services at this church!

As we were coming down the mountain in the gondola, Mom had a huge grin on her face. "I conquered the mountain," she stated proudly.

We pointed out that conquering a mountain likely involves climbing it. Or at least walking up the trail instead of riding a gondola. But she would not be dampened.

I think she can consider it conquering if she made it up in that gondola. You leave my mom alone, be nice to her :)
