Making a List

My parents are coming for a three week visit.

After giving them a couple of days to recover from jet lag we are setting out on a driving tour through France. But when we get back, we are putting them to work.

The reason for the three week visit is that there are some major organizational tasks around the house that I must get done. And I simply do not have time to get them done in the short bits of time during which I am not caring for Global Baby.

Here's the List:
  • The office will be reorganized and completely cat-proofed. The cats are being moved into there.
  • The current cat room/huge walk-in closet (also known as a bedroom!) will be thoroughly cleaned, baby-proofed, reorganized and decorated as a nursery.
  • The kitchen cupboards will be emptied, cleaned and completely reorganized.
  • The hall cupboard will be emptied, cleaned and completely reorganized.
  • Our storage room in the basement will be emptied, sorted and reorganized with everything we don't need either donated or disposed of.
Mom and Dad will do Baby Care while GLH and I work on the above tasks.

Woo hoo! We sure know how to show our guests a good time!

I'd take care of like N in order to be in Switzerland... IT's definitely a fair trade off if you ask me, plus they get to see france! What more could you want.. :)

Let me get this straight...You're inviting The Mother over so you can clean and organize in front of her, and expect her not to join in? You'd have better luck getting Gadget Boy to play Tiddily Winks in a room filled with electonic gadgets.

The Father, no problem. Turn on the TV and leave the couch available, and he's out of commission. But The Mother? It's hard to fight addiction.

Go on much deserved date with GLH!

Dinner out was definitely in the plan as well!

And I am pretty sure Mom will be too busy running after Global Baby, who is always in non-stop motion, that she won't have time to worry about what I am up to with the cleaning & organizing!

Have you met The Mother?

Remember, the mother kept our house spotless and organized with 5 of us things scurrying about.

I am with pooh on this one - mother will be too busy scurrying about after the baby. No need to worry about her cleaning. She might give advice - but probably won't actually help :)

Let us not forget the youngest of the children is turning 38 next month. It's been a while since Mom had to scurry after 5 children and keep the house clean.

And Global Baby is a HANDFUL! He never, ever sits still. Not even for a moment. Not even when he is sleeping.

Which might explain why an 8 month old baby has defined muscles in his arms and legs!

The Mother was very good at keeping you out of the way. You younger ones probably don't remember, but let me point this out: Why did we have all that chicken wire if we never had any chickens?
