Bad Day for Global Librarian...

Annoying Occurrence 1
As a result of a lawsuit in 2006, the government did an audit of all H&R Block customers for the past X number of years. Including mine from 2002 which was found to be wrong. Then it took more than a year for them to find me, what with me having repeatedly moved, changing my name through marriage, and then moving once again to Europe. So now I also owe late fees & penalties. It's not a lot of money, although I am extremely annoyed they are charging me 11% interest for the last year when I knew nothing about it, but it's the principle. H&R Block will be receiving a Very Strongly Worded Letter! Mostly because attempting to call them did me no good whatsoever. 'Cause they SUCK!

Annoying Occurrence 2
For my birthday trip this year (in May) I decided I wanted to go to Las Vegas to see Bette Midler's new show which just opened at the beginning of the year. At the time we booked the non-refundable flight & hotel (at the same time as a US business trip GLH needs to take anyway), Bette was scheduled to perform that weekend. But you could not buy tickets until 3 months before the performance. We just checked to see if the tickets were on sale yet and found out that all of her shows for the month of May have been cancelled. So now I am trying to decide which lackluster show I wish to see for my birthday in a city I would never have selected except for the fact I love Bette Midler. Perhaps I should also send a Very Strongly Worded Letter to Bette?

Sigh.

At least I get to go to Cairo tomorrow!

Cher!

If Spamalot is still playing there, that's my real recommendation. But I'm sure Cher puts on a good show, too...

Thought about Cher. She doesn't start until the day after we leave. Also considered Spamalot. but we just saw it in London.

Thinking about Cirque, Phantom of the Opera or Rita Rudner.

Yep, those are the best remaining options.

I'm not a Cirque fan, but still I've managed to be dragged to several of them. O is the best Cirque I've seen, but then again I haven't seen the new erotic one or Love (the Beatles one, which I hear is fab).

Penn and Teller was a good show. Big Elvis is awesome AND free AND in the middle of the day, so you can see him and someone else. Blue Man Group is mildly entertaining, as is Mama Mia. Too bad Avenue Q isn't still there - that's the best musical ever.

Little Legends looked pretty tempting last time we were there, but we passed in the end.

Um, yeah, I've spent a lot of time in Las Vegas.

If I were going to Vegas, I'd pick Cirque.

Enjoy Cairo! I'd love to make it out to Egypt someday...

Sorry to hear about both 1) and 2)! Non-refundable flights - Bette should have to pay! Maybe the auditors are getting to her too...

Vegas can be so fabulous and such a fun way to celebrate your birthday! I took my best friend to the Cirque Show "Love" (the Beatles show). Truly incredible! The beauty of the moment made me tear up twice during the show. The time before that we went to "Zumanity", the erotic Cirque show. Totally amazing as well! I hope you get to see one of them...I will watch for it on your blog.
