Showdown

American-sized pork shoulder meets Swiss-sized slow cooker

We have visitors arriving tomorrow morning. To save time later in the day, I thought I would slow cook some barbecued pork for a quick and easy dinner. The plan is to set it up to cook before I leave for the airport early tomorrow morning.

We also invited an additional guest as well, so I wanted to make certain we had enough. I'd rather have too much than not enough.

In the end, the Swiss Slow Cooker won the draw. Can't cook it if ya can't fit it in the pot, now can ya?

Note: The arrival of guests means the remainder of the travel posts will have to wait until after they are gone.

OMG! This post made me laugh out loud. I totally relate. My US dinner plates don't fit in my German dishwasher. My husband and I have been eating off salad plates ever since we moved here.

Where did you get your slow-cooker?! I am looking for one and the swiss border isn't _that_ far away.

We purchased the Slow Cooker at Media Markt, a large chain store that is in a couple of different European countries. The brand is Solis.

Here's the trick, though. The store labeled it a "Reis Kuchen" and it was indeed next to a couple of different rice cookers. But when I looked closer I realized it was actually a crock pot.

By the way, I wouldn't recommend it for cooking rice. Doesn't work as well as an actual rice cooker!
