Why I Miss Halloween

Please do not misunderstand. I am not actually a great fan of Halloween in and of itself. I have no desire to dress up in a costume or attempt to scare small children by cackling.

However I do appreciate how it pushes back the Christmas marketing for one more month.

The stores here are now filled with Christmas decorations and Christmas shopping reminders and Christmas everything else.

If you start too soon, Christmas just isn't as special.

So please, Europeans, start celebrating Halloween.

I don't think Halloween pushes back christmas at all in the US. Many stores there probably already have christmas stuff up, and radio stations are probably already playing christmas music.

Yes, we already have Christmast music and decorations. No such luck about Halloween pushing Christmas back.

Christmas has been coming earlier and earlier. This year my friend mentioned how Christmas was already in the stores in the beginning of September. In fact I don't know that I have seen much for Halloween this year - with the exception of the stores that actually thrive on Halloween costumes and decorations :)

Found you via Dixie and Kat. HI!

Unfortunately, Halloween hasn't prevented Christmas marketing here. Our local Costco already has about 5 isles filled to the brim with Christmas stuff.

Hi there. I have have a friend living in Switzerland and she has a hankering for Cheddar Cheese, and hasn't been able to find any in all of Switzerland. Is there a shop in Zurich, or Bern that sells good cheddar?
Thanks!

Alright, alright. It's a global problem.

And you can find good English cheddar cheese at Migros or Globus.

However, there was a ban on cheddar cheese for a while due to a recurrence of Foot and Mouth Disease in the UK. However, the ban has now been lifted and the cheddar cheese is returning to the stores.

Imagine - if you will - me, sitting at my desk wearing a headband with devil horns on it.

Happy Holloween!

Why are Americans so fond of cheddar?

Because it tastes good.

We do! We do! Here in Austria we are beginning to celebrate Halloween and yes, it really does off-set the Christmas season by, oh, maybe 1 week!
